Welcome to dsc18

With 55,000 courses on the UCAS system, we know where to look and what to look for.

Once you have contacted us we will firstly interview you, either face to face or using Skype and find out about your subjects and exam results so far, your interests and hobbies, ambitions for the future and of course what you are thinking about studying at university. Then using our extensive knowledge of UK universities and the courses available on the UCAS website (you have to apply through the UCAS site for all but a handful of UK university courses) we will search out a selection of courses at universities that we think will be right for you based on all that you have told us.

We will produce for you a shortlist of carefully selected courses and universities, again, based on all that you have told us, and at a second meeting or Skype talk, discuss our recommendations with you.

By the end of this process or maybe after further meetings, you will have your four or five courses ready for your UCAS application.

We can also offer you suggestions of subjects and courses that you might not have considered if you have no idea what to study.

If you have already left school or college, you can submit your application to UCAS through us.

Enhance your future with the right degree choice.

Competition for courses at the best universities will be fierce. You should aim to begin your preparation for applying to university as early as possible in your sixth form so that there is time to organise the best possible application; it's never too late either.

DSC will offer you plenty of up to date and relevant guidance to help avoid the disappointment of a failed application. Ultimately your choice of a university course based on up to the minute expertise is more likely to deliver that prized graduate job.

Would you like some help with your Personal Statement or interview practice?

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Never before has it been so important to check out all of the published entry requirement information relevant to courses and universities before submitting your UCAS application. According to recent press reports, many top UK universities are having to now adjust their required entry grades for their most popular courses in response to an expected increase in the number of applicants for 2011; this being after the publication of their 2011 prospectuses.

DSC consultants have always believed that entry requirements should be confirmed with university admissions departments before students make their final decisions on courses. It is in this way that we try and prevent as far as we can students making wasted applications.

It was though surely only a matter of time that grades for many of the most popular courses would be raised to accommodate for the introduction of the A* in some entry criteria.

PERSONAL STATEMENTS

It's never too early to start preparing for your Personal Statement. Begin a file and put in it information relating to your exam subjects and results, your extra curricular activities and also, relevant to your Sixth Form courses or possible choice of subject at university, details of any lectures or courses you have attended and reading you have completed.

Hint: If you haven't started to read around your subjects, start now!

Try and organise some relevant work experience too; all of this plus your commitment to your academic study as demonstrated by your reading etc., will help prove to admissions tutors that your passion for your proposed subject of study is genuine.
